Lead Architectural Designer/Draftsman - Petros Homes
The magic started with a Christmas card. Mark Krahe, lead designer for our company joined Petros Homes in 1992. The company was literally in it’s infancy and CEO Sam Petros was beginning to strategize on how he would build and grow a successful custom home building company. Mark was one of the first key hires. Shortly after he started, Sam brought him a Christmas card that he had received with a beautiful and whimsical white colonial home.
“Can you draw this?” he asked. Mark went right to the drawing board and designed the iconic two-story home located on Route 82 and Cherry Hill Lane in Broadview Heights that would serve as a model home and the Petros Homes offices. Lit up just like the card that inspired it, it would serve as the jewel that began building the brand for the local hometown building company and define their reputation as a respected custom homebuilder.
Mark attended Kent State University where he studied architectural drafting and design build. Always interested and inspired by unique architectural details, his time spent at KSU solidified his interest to move specifically towards a career in residential architecture. Prior to arriving at Petros Homes, Mark built a handful of custom homes in the Northeast Ohio area.
Since then, Mark has been involved in the design of over 2500 single and multi family residences for the firm. He notes that his most rewarding aspect of his work at Petros Homes is working one on one with the customer to make their dream home come to life.
“I especially like the challenge of listening to their ideas, interpreting their vision, designing it on “paper” and then getting great satisfaction of seeing the entire process through from concept to completion. Knowing I was able to have a hand in building their dream home is really rewarding.”
In his free time, Mark is all about “everything outdoor” and his hobbies include hunting, fishing, hiking and most sports.
His greatest joy is spending time with his wife, three children and seven grandchildren who all just happen to be boys!
Entering his third decade with Petros Homes, Mark is a valued team member and creative contributor to the company’s success.
